ZERO TOLERANCE! ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES!

This is a reminder that the PASS Board and league members will strictly adhere to
the City of Pleasanton municipal code banning public drinking of alcoholic beverages
in places such as the sports field complex.

A new law effective February 22, 2001 makes it illegal to possess an open can, bottle
or other receptacle containing alcohol.  The California law allowed municipalities to
amend the existing ordinance, which makes enforcement of open alcoholic
containers a lot easier.

Prior to the new law, an offender could be cited if witnessed in the act of drinking by a
police officer.  Under the current law, an offender can be cited and fined merely by the
possession of an open container.  This violation can result in a very expensive drink!

We can only reiterate the severity of the consequences of the violation along with
possible loss of privileges in the use of the city sports fields.  Playing organized
soccer is a privilege that the City of Pleasanton can easily revoke by the irresponsible
acts of a few violators.  Please do your part to be responsible citizens, serve as
leaders for your team and avoid any future acts that may jeopardize our soccer league.
